Scope
This policy applies to all Clever Centre Ltd colleagues, contractors, associates, secondees, agency staff and third parties undertaking activity on behalf of the company. It applies to our operations, the goods and services we procure, and the services we provide to our clients and communities. This policy is part of a wider set of interlinked policies and procedures which together support the environmental objectives of Clever Centre Ltd.

Purpose
Clever Centre Ltd is committed to protecting, and where possible enhancing, the environment. This policy provides the framework for reducing our environmental impacts, preventing pollution, supporting a transition to a low-carbon future, and contributing positively to climate change mitigation and adaptation.

Responsibilities

  • All staff, contractors, associates, secondees and partners are responsible for complying with this policy.
  • Staff involved in purchasing must follow Clever Centre Ltd’s procurement requirements, which include environmental and social value considerations.
  • Certain activities covered by this policy are supported by specific procedures and dedicated policies to ensure that our environmental objectives are achieved.

Policy Statement
Clever Centre Ltd recognises that its operations have an impact on the environment. These impacts arise primarily from:

  • Energy use – heating, lighting, and electricity consumption across our offices and during remote working.
  • Business travel – emissions from business journeys, commuting, and transport-related activities.
  • Waste generation – including office waste, food waste, and any training or project-related waste.
  • ICT equipment disposal – ensuring safe, secure, and environmentally responsible recycling of IT hardware.
  • Procurement decisions – the environmental impact of the goods and services we purchase.
  • Emergency risk reduction – safe storage of hazardous substances, correct use of equipment, and responsible waste handling to reduce risks such as fire or pollution.

Clever Centre Ltd has set a target to achieve Net Zero by 2035. To support this ambition, and to continuously improve our environmental performance, we will:

  • Comply with all relevant environmental legislation, standards, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Prevent pollution and minimise harmful environmental impacts through robust systems and procedures.
  • Encourage and support suppliers to align with our environmental commitments.
  • Continuously review and improve our environmental management practices.
  • Increase awareness and responsibility among colleagues through training and communication.

Specific Actions
Clever Centre Ltd will:

  1. Reduce energy consumption across our sites through awareness, improved controls, and investment in energy-efficient practices.
  2. Reduce business travel miles through journey planning, use of remote communication, and sustainable travel options.
  3. Reduce paper consumption by promoting digital communication, storage, and workflow systems.
  4. Manage ICT hardware responsibly by reusing and recycling equipment wherever possible.
  5. Minimise waste by considering reuse and recycling before disposal.
  6. Maximise recycling by providing and promoting facilities for paper, plastics, cans, batteries, electrical items, and other recyclables.
  7. Work with suppliers to understand and reduce their environmental impact, fostering sustainable partnerships.

Monitoring & Communication
Clever Centre Ltd will set and review environmental objectives at regular intervals, with progress reported to the Senior Leadership Team and Board.

We will communicate our environmental commitments and performance to colleagues, suppliers, clients, and stakeholders via procurement processes, business plans, internal communication channels, and company-wide awareness initiatives.

Review
This policy will be reviewed annually as part of the company’s business planning cycle, with updates approved by the Senior Leadership Team to ensure its ongoing effectiveness and relevance.
